The town of San Ignacio preserves in its majority a missionary architecture.

San Ignacio is located 144 km southeast of Guerrero Negro by highway No. 1 that goes to Loreto. From here to Laguna San Ignacio it is only 58.6 km along a road that was previously unpaved. The road now in good condition extends another 8 km to the Kuyimá ecotourism camp, which is located on the shores of the lagoon. The visitor is advised to reserve their place in the camp in advance, as well as to take all the precautions indicated to avoid disturbing the whales.

San Ignacio is also a fabulous place to visit as it preserves a valuable example of missionary architecture dating from 1728. The style of the Kadakaaman Mission is sober baroque and presents two bodies in which the slender stone pilasters that frame the access door stand out. , adorned with sculptures of saints and members of the Jesuit order, who ordered its construction. The visiting hours of the Mission are from Monday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. In San Ignacio you will also find lodging services and gas stations.

San Ignacio will also serve as a preamble to the excursions to the Sierra San Francisco and Mulegé, where beautiful examples of cave paintings that represent hunting scenes and ritual dances are preserved in more than 300 identified sites. The Sierra San Francisco is located 80 km from San Ignacio.
