Two very traditional Mexican recipes: pico de gallo and sangrita for the also typical tequila. Unknown Mexico gives you the recipe!
INGREDIENTS
(For 8 people)
- 3 large jicamas, peeled and divided into medium squares
- 3 cucumbers, peeled and divided into medium triangles
- 4 large or juicy oranges, peeled and cut into medium pieces
- ½ pineapple peeled and cut into medium triangles
- 3 semi-green mangoes, peeled and cut into medium pieces
- juice of three lemons
- 4 arbol chilli or to taste, roasted and ground with salt to taste
PREPARATION
All the ingredients are mixed and the pico de gallo is refrigerated for 30 minutes.
PRESENTATION
The pico de gallo is served in a deep plate and with wooden chopsticks.
Sangrita
INGREDIENTS
(Makes ½ liter)
- 2 cups of sweet orange juice
- Juice of two lemons
- 2 tablespoons grenadine syrup or white syrup
- 4 tablespoons of very spicy “La Valentina” sauce (or to taste)
- Juice of ¼ onion
- 1 teaspoon salt
PREPARATION
all the ingredients are mixed.
PRESENTATION
The sangrita is served on a tequila shot accompanying the tequila.
