In this valley are the ruins of what was a 16th century Franciscan convent, which served as a convent-garden that supplied food to other congregations; this type of convents were called "collection".

During the 16th and 17th centuries, that of Tepeyanco provided consumer goods to other convents established in Puebla, Tlaxcala and Mexico. That explains its large size.

On one side of the former convent is the church of San Francisco. In its brick and tile façade you can see the images of San Pascual Bailón, San Diego de Alcalá, San José and the Immaculate Conception. Its interior is of great beauty. The main altarpiece, dedicated to Saint Francis, is in the Baroque style.

It is the custom of the parishioners to bring flowers to church every Sunday.
