Our date was at the pier at 7.30 hours. The cool of the morning and the beautiful landscape of the sunrise finished waking us up in an excellent mood. This is how we board the boat heading to Cape Catoche. During the journey, the presence of dolphins, who playfully like to follow the boats. It is also possible, depending on the time of year, to coincide with the devil blanket (Manta birostris), which is spectacular. Their dimensions, behavior and swimming, add a plus to the journey, especially if you are lucky enough to see them jump back.

Already approaching the area of whale shark, the guide gave us the pertinent specifications, since fortunately swimming with this enormous fish is regulated by the authorities for their welfare.

We were all waiting. In a short time, in the total tranquility of this area, in the distance it was possible to see a moving dorsal fin. Once located, and everyone with equipment to snorkel, we take turns two by two. Out of respect, we keep a certain distance so as not to inconvenience them. It was fascinating swimming next to the largest fish in the world. Its narrow mouth extends the full width of its flattened head; their eyes are small, located on the sides of the mouth; the gill openings are long and extend over the pectoral fins; Its powerful tail fin is semicircular. It can reach lengths of up to 18 meters.

Once the experience was over, more than one fell asleep on the way back, perhaps from tension and excitement.

We had dinner, and we coordinated with who was our guide, to be able to travel in kayak the mangroves the next day.

Dawn and was most noticeable by the smell of coffee. In the little cabins where we stayed, it included breakfast, and the breeze itself favored its aroma to enter through the windows of our room. Freshly brewed coffee, some fruit, and a couple of pieces of toast with jam. During the day we enjoy the beach and the sea.

At 4:00 p.m. we meet with Andrés, who goes on excursions through the mangroves in kayak. Thus he brought us closer to the beginning of the mangroves, where hours later we would be collected. This tour is very interesting, given the exuberance of the fauna that is housed there. It is common to find white ibis, frigate birds, white egrets, double-crested cormorants, white pelicans, red egrets, roseate spoonbills, herons, gray pelicans and pink flamingos among other species. Once back, we got ready to get ready for dinner. Tired of rowing, there was nothing else to do, just wait again for sunrise.

After breakfast, we agreed to go for a walk. Already in the afternoon when the heat goes down, we could to ride a horse by the beach and see the sunset again. We did not go to sleep, without first arranging with a taxi driver to ensure our transport to the pier very early. Our ferry left at 7:00 am. Upon arriving at Chiquilá we bought the tickets to Cancun. We realized that the drivers take the opportunity to have breakfast there, so it was the indicator that they ate excellently there, they always know. So we said goodbye with the best dogfish and ray, with grated cabbage and a very spicy red sauce.
