Endless network of rivers, canals, lagoons, mangroves, swamps and streams; net that traps with the magnetic charm that water exerts on man: Tabasco.

You travel to Tabasco to see, enjoy, and venerate the sacred element; It is the sanctuary of water, which gushes forth and comes from all directions: it hits its shore, it falls with force from the sky, it gushes - hot and cold - from its caves, it runs fast through its rivers and saturates its plains.

Sea water bathes the coasts of Tabasco for 200 km.

As for the water that falls from the sky, the rains in this state boast the highest levels in Mexico and in many regions of the world, as the population of Teapa recalls: in 1936, the rain gauges there reached the national record of 5,297 mm .

In Tabasco, even the stones, which barely appear, are wet, both in the rivers and in the caves. Famous caves are those of Coconá and little known are those of Poaná, Madrigal and Cuesta Chica, and the caves of Zopo and El Azufre. Cold and hot, the waters spring up suddenly in the mountainous and calcareous part of the state.

Without a doubt, the currents are the representative aquatic expression of the entity, from the thinnest stream of water to the most mighty in our country, the Usumacinta. This is the region with the highest water runoff during the year, through which a third of Mexico's surface water drains and which, due to its importance, constitutes the seventh river system in the world.

In the “land between rivers”, they are even found in the capital city of the state, where the walks and landscapes of the Grijalva are an inseparable aspect of the flavor of Villahermosa. And of the many lagoons, one did not want to be left out of the urbanization, that of the Illusions.

Bouncy and presumptuous waters also exist in Tabasco, in its attractive waterfalls, such as Agua Blanca and Reforma.

And of the other expression of water, the one that rests calmly on the plains, the special mention is for the Pantanos de Centla, the swampy portion that is between the cities of Frontera, Jonuta and Villahermosa, declared in 1992 a biosphere reserve by its significance. With its great extension, high biological productivity, climatic value, remarkable plant and animal wealth, and even archeology, the Centla swamps are considered "the most important in Mexico and Central America."

Tabasco is a plain where everything is water, among plants, because together with the water are the flora and fauna, which, although quite disturbed in the state, are still very famous: abundant mangroves, lilies, tulars, shrubs, palms; animals such as the manatee and the pejelagarto, the imposing felines, the jabirú and many other animal wealth.

Tabasco's nature offers the advantage of being able to feel and enjoy oneself in the splendor of its wild corners - walks through the jungle, navigation through its rivers and swamps, observation of its fauna - as well as, on a small scale, in its parks. With all comfort, in Yumká diverse ecological environments are enjoyed where the animals live as in their natural habitat and practically in freedom. In Villahermosa itself, between the Parque Museo de La Venta and the Museo de Historia Natural, southern nature is close at hand.

Welcome to the very enjoyable nature of Tabasco, the “kingdom of water”.
