Its construction dates from 1550, although the temple was completed in 1640 and the cloister in 1698.

The church has a robust façade with its quarry façade, in a very sober Baroque style barely ornamented by discrete elements, such as the coats of arms of the temple's benefactor, Don Luis Tovar, in the second body, and paired columns in both bodies. which are finished off with simple pinnacles, to conclude with a beautiful relief of Señor Santiago on horseback and on it a quadrangular pediment with a clock.

The tower is monumental, with three bodies decorated in a sober baroque style; the annexed convent, where the Regional Museum is housed, has two levels, four patios and an interesting architectural image in which there are baroque ornamental elements mixed with details of a certain Renaissance air.

Visit: Every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Corregidora Avenue s / n in the city of Querétaro.
