Although small, this region located in the center of the country presents various alternatives for adventure and fun. Its natural wealth offers the opportunity to carry out multiple activities within its ecological environments such as rappelling, mountain biking, mountaineering, walking, camping, horseback riding, ballooning and ultralights.

The state has several routes for outdoor activities: in the center, 5 km from the capital, is the Acuitlapilco lagoon, which fills up in the rainy season and is visited by migratory birds. 2 km from the city is the Botanical Garden of Tizatlán, with its small lake, nurseries, greenhouses and aquatic, xerophytic and useful plants. In the nearby town of Santa Cruz it is possible to visit the "La Trinidad Vacation Center", which has swimming pools, tennis courts, a lake for rowing, a restaurant, comfortable rooms and an auditorium for conventions. In San Juan Totolac is the Sanctuary of Defense with its paths and streams full of lush trees. At 11 km from the capital, the “Atlihuetzía Waterfall” stands out, formed by the Zahuapan river that falls from 30 m high, and forms a small lagoon; near the waterfall, a high rock shows off the ancient cave paintings of Amaxac.

On the northern route, Tlaxco stands out, where there are places like "At the end of the Path" with comfortable cabins arranged among the forest trees. Another wooded area is Acopinalco del Peñón: an excellent option for mountaineering. From the viewpoint you can see beautiful mountainous landscapes such as Las Vigas, La Peña and El Rosario. In Sanctorum is La Hoyanca, a hollow of capricious rock formations, with unusual magnetism that charges energy to those who reach its bottom little explored.

In Atlangatepec, 20 km south of Tlaxco, the Atlanga lagoon is the scene of boat rides, sailing regattas, motor boating and sport fishing. In this region there are also cave paintings, the Villa Quinta Olivares Recreational Center and the Ejidal Atlangatepec Tourist Center, as well as the Cruz Verde and San José de las Delicias hunting ranches, and the Mazaquiahuac, Mimiahuapan and La Trasquila farms.

In the south only the Ejidal de Zacatelco Tourist Center stands out. While the eastern route has the most important area for ecotourism: La Malinche National Park, "La de las Faldas Azules", once a sacred mountain of the Tlaxcalans, which at 4,000 meters above sea level contained a sanctuary where people offered asking for rain. It has spectacular ravines such as San Juan, and dense pine forests. 17 km east of Huamantla there is a small desert area called the Cuapiaxtla Desert, with dunes, fauna and flora typical of that environment. Finally, along the western route, Calpulalpan stands out, with its great plains and attractive former haciendas Mazapa, San Bartolomé del Monte, Ixtafayuca and San Nicolás el Grande. As you can see, if you are looking for rest, adventure, practice sports or simply enjoy natural beauties, Tlaxcala is a state that offers many surprises.
