Currently the state of Tamaulipas is, within the national context, the first hunting state of the Republic, and therefore it marks the hunting strategy of the same; This is an activity that in our state has been developed thanks to the support of Governor Tomás Yarrington Ruvalcaba, and in response to the demand that hunting athletes have exercised, given the abundance and great diversity of birds, of which the most coveted It is the white wing pigeon, which is found throughout the state, especially in the center of it, where we have the Parras de la Fuente reserve, Abasolo municipality. This is a native species of northeastern Mexico, where the most abundant populations are generated, attracting about 7,500 foreign hunters and about 1,500 nationals per year, in a period of no more than three months. At the same time, the hunting of quail, huilota pigeon, duck, goose, spear and crane is practiced.
Another of the most coveted trophies worldwide is the Texan white-tailed deer, and to a lesser extent the Miquihuanense deer. More than 700 foreign hunters and around 300 nationals come to Tamaulipas in search of these trophies, generating this activity an important economic spill in our state, in a period of two months (December and January), which is what the season of hunting these animals.
The state has a large number of game reserves, such as El Tinieblo, which manages a game reserve of approximately forty animal species, among which are deer, sheep and goats, and in which bird breeding sites are being made. , like pheasants and quails. There are other places, such as the Don Quixote ranch, Las Palomas de Loma Colorada, the No Le Hace Lodge and many more, with first-rate facilities –luxury rooms, pool, bar, organizing parties at night, etc.– in great part of the state.
