In the 16th century, the colonizer Nuño Beltrán de Guzmán and his chroniclers speak of this site as a place lavish in natural wealth, and mention that the natives wear showy jewels and elegant dresses.

The port of San Blas was officially founded in the 18th century and very soon acquired great commercial and military importance. From his shipyards, Fray Junípero Serra set out in pursuit of the evangelization of Alta California, and years later the port was the scene of the glorious battles that Don José María Mercado fought against foreign invaders.

Nowadays San Blas is a pleasant tourist destination where you can practice various water sports, such as fishing and surfing, and enjoy both its beautiful beaches and excellent cuisine; Other activities that no one should miss in San Blas and its surroundings is bird and crocodile watching (at the La Tobara crocodile farm).
