The islands of the Revillagigedo Archipelago are a protected natural area located 390 km south of Cabo San Lucas and 840 km west of Manzanillo.

Named in honor of the Count of Revillagigedo, the islands that make up the Revillagigedo Archipelago have been a Protected Natural Area since June 6, 1994 and a Biosphere Reserve since November 15, 2008.

Visiting them is not easy, since access to the Revillagigedo Archipelago Reserve is restricted by the Secretary of the Navy and is limited by the issuance of a special permit issued by the same jurisdiction in the state of Colima.

The Archipelago of Revillagigedo is made up of the Socorro island, the Clarion island, the San Benedicto island and the Roca Partida island, as well as by the sea that surrounds them. These islands offer great possibilities for environmental research and are regularly visited more by scientists and explorers than by tourists.

The Revillagigedo Archipelago area has administration, surveillance and research stays. To reach them, boats can be taken from the port of Manzanillo, in Colima, or in Mazatlán, in Sinaloa.

If when visiting Colima you decide to stay on the mainland, we recommend two very famous destinations in this beautiful state: Manzanillo, possessor of an enviable tourist infrastructure and Cuyutlán: where there is a turtle camp dedicated to the study, protection and conservation of sea turtles, which it also promotes the participation of the general population to protect these beautiful species from poaching and their most common predators. Manzanillo is located 116km southwest of the city of Colima, by highway 110, connecting with No. 200. For its part, Cuyutlán is 28 km southwest of Tecomán, also accessing highway No. 200.
