A lawyer by profession, he was born in Valladolid in 1772. He is part of the Crown Infantry Regiment with the rank of lieutenant.

In Jalapa he meets a group of nonconformists with whom he participates in the conspiracy of Valladolid in 1809. He is taken prisoner, but obtains his freedom, alleging that his objective is to restore the government of New Spain to Fernando VII.

When the viceregal authorities have knowledge of Hidalgo's movement, he is sent as a prisoner to San Juan de Ulúa and later sent to Spain, since he is considered a dangerous element for the pacification of New Spain. After the consummation of Independence, he returned to Mexico.

He is a deputy of the Constituent Congress and a member of the executive along with Miguel Domínguez (1822-1824) to replace the failed triumvirate appointed while the presidential elections are being held. He intervenes in the exile of Agustín de Iturbide, ignoring the Plan of Iguala and the Treaty of Córdoba.

Upon assuming power, Nicolás Bravo is appointed Minister Plenipotentiary in Great Britain. He travels through Europe and Asia Minor. It is part of the Congress of America called by Simón Bolívar in Panama. Create the Yorkino Rite of Innkeeping.

He introduced coffee to Mexico by sowing some plants brought from Moka, Arabia that were successfully acclimatized on his farm, near Uruapan, Michoacán. He died in 1852.
