This temple was founded by the first bishop of Durango, Fray Gonzalo de Hermosillo, between the years 1621 and 1631.

At first it was a humble prayer cell used by the priest, but later it grew until it became what it is today. The construction was carried out in 1637, but it was enlarged and remodeled in the 19th century, when a side façade and the main altar were added, the work of the master stonemason Benigno Montoya, in a beautiful neo-Gothic style with wonderful religious images.

Its main façade is in a sober baroque style with two bodies with simple decorations on columns and finishes, as well as a splendid side portal decorated with angels and an eagle.

Visit: Daily from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Where: Avenida 20 de Noviembre and Calle Hidalgo in the city of Durango.
