Guanajuato, its Plaza de la Paz, the Municipal Palace, the Otero Palace and the Collegiate Basilica of Our Lady of Guanajuato are places that you should know.

The Plaza de la Paz de Guanajuato is also known as Plaza Mayor or Principal, since for years the headquarters of the civil and ecclesiastical authorities of the then Real de Minas de Santa Fe de Guanajuato were located here, as well as the residences of opulent families. These constructions constitute an excellent sample of colonial and nineteenth-century architecture. The square, set on sloping and uneven terrain, in the shape of a triangle, was built in 1865 and in its center stands out, on a large green quarry pedestal, the statue of La Paz, unveiled by President Porfirio Díaz in 1903.

Among the buildings that surround the square, the Collegiate Basilica of Our Lady of Guanajuato, the Municipal Palace, the Legislative Palace, the Otero Palace and the Pérez Gálvez House stand out for their architecture and history.
