ZACUALPAN: CHARMING VILLAGE IN THE STATE OF MEXICO

Getting to this corner in the south of the State of Mexico is an unbeatable experience, from the Nevado de Toluca to here, a corridor of landscapes of abundant and lush trees awaits you. Already in the center, its peaceful streets show its ancient temples full of history and legends such as the one in which they proudly say that in the then San José chapel the body of Cuauhtémoc was veiled before being taken to Ixcateopan. Other buildings are testimony to the metallurgical mining boom that allowed a commercial contact with Taxco in Guerrero.

Within the municipality there are several springs from where salt was previously extracted, which you can see on your tour around this Charming Town.

SAN JOSÉ PARISH TEMPLE

It is one of the most notable buildings in the town, here the Lord of the Cardinals is venerated. Among the community it is a sacred place, having watched over the last Aztec emperor, Cuauhtémoc after his defeat with Hernán Cortés. Although it is a work from 1529, there are still images carved in wood of the encounter between these characters in history.

PARISH OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

Its construction is due to the Augustinians and is distinguished by its quarry facade divided into two bodies, in the first the image of the Virgin Mary stands out and the second its baroque elements stand out; for its part, the tower is enhanced by its neo-Gothic components. The interior is no less attractive with its neoclassical decoration, it is worth going in and admiring its Latin cross plan, the groin vault and its neoclassical altarpieces.

CITY HALL

Of great antiquity, this building was created by the Franciscans in 1528, in this construction the neoclassical style is appreciated both on the facade and inside.

OTHER ATTRACTIONS

Within this peaceful town there are other sites that you should not miss, some for their historical importance and others for their architecture, such as the Hotel Real de Zacualpan from the 16th century and the El Centenario Theater dating from 1910.
