Beer is the universal drink of young people, who consume most of the hundreds of millions of kiloliters that pass annually through the throats of the whole world. The Mexicans to Corona, the Americans to Bud Light and Budweiser, the Dutch to Haineken, the Brazilians to Skol and Brahma, the Venezuelans to Polar, the Argentines to Quilmes. No matter what your favorite beer is, you will surely find it at the Villa del Carmen Beer Club. Also in the club you have delicious appetizers to lower your bream or your traditional black.

This striking bar restaurant was built inside a cavern in which there was a cenote and through which underground water circulated. What you will surely feel and enjoy are the three Alux atmospheres, discreetly separated so that you feel at the top: there is one very quiet to chat while drinking tea or coffee, there is one to eat properly and another, the most fun, to drink at will. The Alsatians call a pint of fresh beer "schoppe". In Mexico and other places they call choperias to places where good beer is served, regardless of the size and capacity of the bottle or jug. Rockers who go to or who reside in Playa del Carmen frequent La Choperia. Beer is pouring out as Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink Floyd, Guns 'n' Roses, The Rolling Stones or the latest bands play. There is also time for the Latin American classics of the genre, such as Soda Stereo, Café Tacvba, Maldita Vecindad y los Hijos del Quinto Patio, and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. 11. Coco Bongo

This bar has grown spectacularly in the preferences of the public and is already listed as a recommendation for fun in practically all the brochures and portals of all the tour operators that are related to Mexico and Playa del Carmen. They had the success of going out of the ordinary in traditional establishments, many of which are only satisfied with serving drinks and a little snack, with recorded music in the background.

Coco Bongo turns any emblematic date into a party, even historical and religious ones. Their Halloween parties have nothing to envy to those in New York, Chicago or Detroit and their costumes are the delight of European tourists, unfamiliar with the holiday. The carnival becomes Coco Bongo in 5 nights (with its sunrises) of revelry and, of course, on September 16, Mexico's Independence Day, the party is tremendous.

Address: 12th Street with Tenth Avenue.

12. The Mezcalinna

We close our list of clubs and bars with an establishment that honors mezcal, the ancient Aztec drink distilled from the heart of the maguey plant. If you want to reach the top in a single clean and jerk, you can ask for a pure mezcal, but you should drink in moderation since due to its alcoholic strength, it can quickly go to your head. If you're a newbie, you may want to start with one of the various mezcal and tequila-based cocktails; for example, the famous Margarita. Stay a while at La Mezcalinna because the atmosphere improves as the hours go by.

Address: Calle 12, between 1st avenue and the beach

We hope you did not end up very drunk after this short walk through the most frequented clubs and bars in Playa del Carmen. If you had a drink, ask a hotel employee to give you one of the thousands of recipes for hangover, as Mexicans say to hangover. Our recipe is the most universal: a lot of cold and sweet liquid, enough food and enough sleep. Good luck and be ready very soon for another party day in Playa del Carmen.
