After his last visit to the place, Carlos Lazcano, one of the most prominent Mexican explorers of the last quarter of a century, expressed some concerns about the urgent need for sites such as the Sótano de las Golondrinas to be protected from purely tourist interests or commercial; It is good that today more people arrive to the basement and that the number of hikers who manage to descend is greater, but the challenge is to keep its natural conditions intact to avoid the flora and fauna that make the Sótano de las Golondrinas an exceptional site are affected. For this to be a reality, it is required not only an effective regulation with the participation of the community, but also the creation of favorable conditions that invite visitors to return and respect the environment.
