Located off the coast of Nayarit, in Bahía de Banderas, the archipelago is made up of two small islands and two islets of volcanic origin.

The action of the wind, the sun, the rains and the waves has transformed the substrate, creating different environments that give rise, in turn, to a rich biodiversity. In the Marietas Islands you can find a high variety of resident and migratory seabirds, among which the gannets, commonly called boobies, gulls and pelicans stand out.

A high range of species is also discovered on the seabed, such as mollusks, echinoderms, crustaceans, cnidiaries and elasmobranchs, which makes it a very interesting place for sport diving and snorkeling. The archipelago has recently been declared a Special Biosphere Reserve.
