The Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve covers more than half of the territory of the state of Querétaro, encompassing 8 municipalities of the entity.

One of the best known routes is the one that begins in the town of Bernal, 40 km from the city of Querétaro, accessing the federal highway 120.

Visitors to the Reserve can opt for different activities that will make their stay very pleasant, such as walking, horseback riding, biking or boat riding in the many bodies of water that the place houses. It is important to remember the repercussion that damaging the ecological environment of this site would have, so it is recommended to take all kinds of precautions; Likewise, if you wish to collaborate with the projects carried out within the area, you can go to the offices of the Reserve Directorate in Querétaro or Jalpan.

Undoubtedly another of the attractions of this region are the missions founded in the 16th century by the Franciscan friars, the most famous being those built by the worthy Fray Junípero Serra. The visitor may choose to visit such famous missions as Jalpan or Concá, located in the municipalities of Jalpan de Sierra and Arroyo Seco, respectively.

We assure you that you will not be able to but admire the charming red-tile houses and the quiet streets of these two sites, framed by the superb landscape of the Sierra Gorda. Jalpan is located 190 km from the City of Querétaro, while Concá is 238 km from it.
