Why visit Yurécuaro, Michoacán? Because it is a beautiful place that invites you to rest and recreate the spirit.

Yurécuaro, which means “place of torrents”, is recognized for its commercial activities and its cultural atmosphere. More than a year ago it was named a city for its 24,000 inhabitants. The people of Yurécuaro are distinguished by their kindness and by being entrepreneurial, they do not wait for opportunities to arrive, but they generate their own businesses. They have a broad vision of the trade, in addition to that they like to be visited, to know their lifestyle and the environment in which they live.

Yurécuaro enjoys a calm environment that can be used in business planning or in the intellectual training of people. In addition, different recreational workshops and social events are held in its cultural centers.

One of the places that we recommend visiting is the Yurécuaro square, a place of immense harmony, dedicated to the contemplation of the landscape and the environment. Some take advantage of it to have fun and go skating or feed the pigeons, others prefer to have pleasant talks or buy a popsicle or ice cream. In short, it is a meeting point for young and old.

Another very interesting place is the Church of the Immaculate Conception, whose interiors break with the monotony of the classical temples. The floor, the altar and the baptistery are made of marble brought from Carrara, Italy. If something characterizes this temple, it is the good taste in the austere but significant decoration. Its exterior is part of a pleasant view that blends in harmony with the nature of the place.

After strolling through the city center, it seems like a tour of the areas dedicated to relaxation and entertainment. Such is the case of the Río Lerma Club, where it is possible to practice sports such as basketball, soccer and karate, or to exercise in the gym; for children there is a special area with playgrounds and outdoor pools. During the summer, courses of various types are given. It has a restaurant and a function room. Boredom definitely has no place here.

Another alternative is “Los Cocos”, the meeting place for young Yucuareños. Their meetings become moments of intense fun with soccer games, swimming or basketball competitions, their love of slides or, simply, a place to rest or eat outside the home, either in the restaurant or the garden.

Every year the parishes celebrate the patron saint festivities. In the case of the Cristo Rey church, people are invited to participate in the organization, especially the neighbors. Some make collections or kermeses; Others help with their direct collaboration in the designs of allegorical cars, the arrangements of the streets or in the interior of the church. With speakers, the community is informed of the activities to be carried out.

Of its artisan tradition, the rosaries and wedding ties made by hand by local artisans stand out, who work with top quality imported material such as natural Austrian or Czech cut crystal, aurora borealis and matte.

Yurécuaro has enough tourist infrastructure to serve its visitors: seven hotels, thirteen restaurants, several coffee shops, lunch boxes, taco and enchilada stands, a market (where it is customary to go for breakfast), two travel agencies, four change, two gas stations, two sports, a train station, a bus terminal and many bike shops. In the surroundings you will also find important sites such as La Piedad de Cavadas, Zamora, Degollado, Guanajuato, Tanhuato, Guadalajara, La Ribera and Huáscato.

The House of Culture of Yurécuaro is a very popular place for people of all ages, mainly young people. Computer classes, dance, music (piano, guitar, violin, mandolin), theater and karate are taught here (some of the students have won gold medals at the state level). It also has workshops for embossing, painting, drawing, ribbon embroidery classes, among others. Yurécuaro, a picturesque town in Michoacán, is one of those places that should be known without haste, because it always offers pleasant surprises for those who have the patience to discover it.
