THE PALACE OF THE CITY COUNCIL

Headquarters of the Federal District government, it is characterized by its baroque style and by its twelve semicircular arches on the upper floor. In 1910 a floor was added and said arches were covered, leaving a balcony in each of them. The adjoining building, which also belongs to the Federal District Department, located between Avenida 20 de Noviembre and Pino Suárez, was built where the Malinche houses once stood, in what was called the Portal de las Flores at that time because There a ditch used to pass where the flowers that came from Xochimilco were traded.
