Michoacán is an abundant state of charms. Here instead, the tourist finds Nahua indigenous communities, plantations of the men who have opened the productive system of the coast, wild fauna and flora without any limitation, very fresh food from the sea and imposing marine landscapes.

Characteristics of the Michoacan coast are the deep ravines interspersed through which both temporary and permanent streams and rivers descend, some of them have formed estuaries and bays worth visiting.

One of these places, Las Peñas, is located at the end of the Lázaro Cárdenas plain. It is a rocky outcrop with islets and a small beach with intense waves and an attractive marine view. The landscape is surrounded by low thorny jungle and some palm trees.

Continuing the road and following Punta Corralón, you reach Caleta de Campos, whose sand is fine and dark. This bay, which is located in a reddish cliff area, is known as Bufadero because of the noise made by the air concentrated in a crevice when the water recedes, releasing it suddenly and with explosive force.

Towards the north to the mouth of the Cachán river is Maruata beach, where an important alluvial plain is formed that later becomes mountains and hills of rigorous topography. The beach of fine white sand with exposure to the winds from the south and the east has a natural anchorage and where the waves are low and not very aggressive. The vegetation is typically palm grove with the continental bottom surrounded by medium jungle. This is a favorite site for tourists during summer and winter. There is also a university camp in Maruata for the protection of the sea turtle. Three species come here: the olive ridley (lepidochelys olivacea), the black turtle (Chelonia agasizzi) and the leatherback turtle (dermochelys imbricata). It is at this site where the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo began its campaigns to protect the sea turtle in the summer of 1982.

The 1 km long Bucerías Lighthouse is a bay covered with high and deep sands.

Finally, one of the most important estuaries in the state is in San Juan de Alima, an extensive coastal plain where sea salt is extracted in an artisanal way. Its stony beach has strong winds making it extremely attractive for surfing and sailing. And hotels, without luxury but clean and comfortable, offer unparalleled food.

There is no doubt that the wild and untamed of Michoacan beaches makes us adventurers, invites us to new experiences in which we can talk about you to nature. There are them for all tastes, from the soft and caressing waters to the stormy waves of the open sea. A coast that allows us to see life in a different way.
