If you plan to visit the Basilica of Ocotlán, we give you the following recommendations:

Ocotlán is located approximately 3 kilometers from the center of the City of Tlaxcala, making it a very comfortable place to visit while staying in the state capital. The basilica is located in Calzada de los Misterios s / n, with visiting hours from Monday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. In this same place we recommend you visit El Pocito, a small chapel where a spring gushes out that is said to have been miraculously discovered by Juan Diego Bernardino and that also has healing properties.

Tlaxcala was the seat of four main manors during pre-Hispanic times. Some of the remains of these headwaters can be visited weekly, such as Ocotelulco, located 2 km north of the capital. The ceremonial site includes an altar apparently dedicated to Texcatlipoca, stools for ritual use, and codex-type paintings with images of deities such as Quetzalcóatl and Tlahuizcalpantcuhtli. Their visiting hours are from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In TizatlanSite of another ancient pre-Hispanic head, you can visit other archaeological ruins that incorporate two altars covered in stucco and polychrome, with paintings similar to those of Ocotelulco. You can also visit the nearby temple of San Esteban, of which its open chapel stands out, built in the first half of the 16th century and decorated with paintings of clear indigenous influence.

Location: Tizatlán is located 5 km northeast of Tlaxcala.

Visits: The visiting hours of both sites are from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
