Important Franciscan work built in the 16th century with an annexed convent.

Important Franciscan work built in the 16th century with an annexed convent. The temple has a simple Renaissance style facade with a small alfiz over the door. Its interior has a beautiful wooden coffered ceiling, the largest that exists in the country, with a clear Mudejar style.

The main altar is also of interest, with its Solomonic Baroque style altarpiece that houses a painting of the baptism of Mr. Maxixcatzin, with Cortés and La Malinche as godparents. It is worth visiting the other chapels in the enclosure such as that of the Third Order, with several altarpieces and paintings of good quality, that of the Virgin of Guadalupe, with a beautiful altarpiece, and that of the Cristo de la Preciosa Sangre del Convento, with a Christ of maize cane paste.

Visits: daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
