The corners of Michoacán never cease to amaze us with the history that they tell us through their temples and buildings.

This construction was built by Fray Juan de San Miguel in the 16th century, who also founded the town in 1533. The complex initially had a chapel called the Holy Sepulcher and next to it the friar built a hospital, considered the first The inside of the country. The chapel has a beautiful façade in which its arch is surrounded by a small alfiz decorated with reliefs that show the intervention of indigenous artisans. Above the door are two shields of the Franciscan order and a sculpture of Saint Francis. The whole of the annexed hospital is of simple architecture, with large wooden beams, tile roofs and eaves. The window frames also display a profuse plant-style decoration that together gives a certain Mudejar air to the place. Currently in this building crafts from the region are sold.

It is located in Uruapan, 53 km west of the city of Pátzcuaro, on highway 43.
