It was very probably built by the Franciscan friars around the year 1580, although its stylistic forms would make it seem Augustinian.

Its façade is in a delicious Plateresque style in which there are details of great indigenous influence, especially on the jambs next to the door, where cherubs and angels with fruits, flowers and birds can be seen.

On the side pilasters you can see the sculptures of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, and on the cornice, the choir window is a beautiful Gothic-style rose window.

The interior of the temple shows Gothic elements in the ribs of the roof and in the presbytery it preserves an altarpiece in the Baroque Churrigueresque style.

Visit: daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The temple is located in Atotonilco de Tula, 19 km south of Tlahuelilpan, by state highway no. 21. Deviation to the right at km 13.
