Located inside the House of Culture, this museum was inaugurated in September 1963 and is considered one of the most complete in the west of the Mexican Republic.

A valuable collection of archaeological jewels is distributed on the two floors that make up this modern enclosure, donated by Mrs. María Ahumada, widow of García. This legacy allows the visitor to know the development that pre-Hispanic cultures had in the region.

On the first floor, a detailed description of the development of indigenous societies is presented, through various vessels, clay sculptures and representations of daily activities.

In the second it reveals the social, political, religious and military organization of the Colima ancestors. Highlighting figures of the god Rain, Wind and Thunder, in addition to all kinds of objects used in ceremonies such as jewelry, vessels and skulls.

The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday and admission is free. Within its facilities there is a restaurant, cafeteria, bookstore and an impressive collection of books for consultation that are part of the library's collection.
