1. Regional Michoacano Museum

It houses objects of great historical and artistic importance for the Michoacan entity and its surroundings, such as some colonial codices from early times. The famous painting known as "The Transfer of the Nuns" (1738) is his greatest treasure.

It is located at 305 Allende Street, on the corner of Abasolo.

2. State Museum

It has an anthropological orientation and, since its planning. it was thought as an educational instrument based on a didactic museography. It consists of three sections: archeology, history and ethnology. Be sure to see its old pharmacy dating from 1868.

It is located at Guillermo Prieto No. 176.

3. Museum of the Mask

Located in the House of Culture of Morelia, this museum houses two collections of masks, with 167 objects from about 20 states of the Republic. You can not lose this!

It is located at Avenida Morelos Norte No. 485 and Eduardo Ruiz.

4. Museum of Colonial Art

It houses important artistic works from various origins, such as canvases by Miguel Cabrera and José de Ibarra, some Christs made of corn cane paste, others carved in wood and one in ivory, pieces from the Compañía de Indias, among others.

It is located at 240 Benito Juárez Street.

5. Casa de Morelos Site Museum

The content of this enclosure recounts, through paintings, photographs, furniture, period objects and facsimile documents, the pre-insurgent life of Don José María Morelos y Pavón, the “Servant of the Nation”.

It is located in Morelos Sur No. 323 on the corner of Soto Saldaña.

6. Morelos Birthplace Museum

It exhibits various objects, such as coins that the hero of Independence ordered to mint, as well as several paintings related to the life of Morelos, the most outstanding being those made by the artist Alfredo Zalce.

It is located on Corregidora y García Obeso street.

7. Museum of Contemporary Art "Alfredo Zalce"

Here you can admire works by the great Michoacan plastic artist Alfredo Zalce and Efraín Vargas. Temporary exhibitions of the most select contemporary art are also held nationally and internationally.

It is located at Avenida Acueducto No. 18, Bosque Cuauhtémoc.

8. The House of Crafts

It is located in the old temple and convent of San Francisco. It has production and training programs, rescue projects for artisanal techniques –pre-Hispanic and colonial– and the contemporary development of these products. In addition to the daily sale of handicrafts from all over the state, the House organizes fairs, exhibitions and expo-sales where Michoacan artisans show and sell all their products directly.

It is located in Fray Juan de San Miguel No. 129, in the Historic Center.
