Aguascalientes Cathedral

Stage and style: Its simple portal reflects the Solomonic Baroque style, due to the use of helical or spring-type columns.

It is distinguished by: The presence on its facade of the so-called four doctors of the Church in relief, of popular invoice.

Main riches:
• The Sagrario chapel features an excellent 18th century German-made altarpiece.
• The walls of the temple display works by the renowned painter Miguel Cabrera; still others - by José de Alcíbar and Manuel Osorio - are housed in the sacristy and offices of the bishopric.

Campeche Cathedral

It is distinguished by: Its two tall and slender towers, topped with curious bulbous-shaped domes that harmonize with its main facade lined with pale quarry.

• Of all the images inside, the Christ of the Holy Burial stands out on its own merits, due to its fine carving made of ebony with silver inlays, very much in the style of Seville, Spain.

Chihuahua Cathedral
Stage and style: It was raised in the 18th century, taking more than three decades. The wide doorways that it exhibits, notably decorated, served as an example for the cathedrals built in this region of the country.

It is distinguished by: The main portal with the twelve apostles embedded in their respective niches, flanked at the same time by free-standing columns.

Main riches:
The chapel of Cristo del Mapimí for its baroque altarpiece from the 18th century.

Cathedral of the city of Oaxaca
Stage and style: Built in the 17th - 18th centuries. On the light green quarry of its façade, there are numerous sculptures inserted in very thick frames and guarded by Corinthian columns.

It is distinguished by: By its low height and great massiveness of its proportions (which reduce the effect of earthquakes). On the cover stands out as a central element a large high relief dedicated to the Virgin of the Assumption, crowned by the Holy Trinity. This sample is worthy of the carving of a great goldsmith, taking into account that it is a replica of the painting known as Assumpta, made by Titian.

Main riches:

• Two huge paintings: San Cristóbal, dated 1726 and The Seven Archangels in Glory, executed by Marcial de Santaella.

Durango Cathedral

Stage and style: It dates from the seventeenth century and according to the chronicles it took seven decades to complete.

Main riches:
• The choir stalls accompanied by figures of saints and apostles finely carved in stewed wood.
• In the sacristy there are examples of baroque furniture that keep silk chasubles embroidered in gold and silver.
• It has four paintings by Juan Correa from the 18th century.

Hermosillo Cathedral

Stage and style: It was built in the 19th century. His impeccable factory was made with remarkable taste and sobriety; on its façade the attached baroque cypress stands out, which contrasts with the neoclassical style of the rest.

Mazatlan Cathedral

Stage and style: In it diverse architectural styles coincide, such as the Neo-Gothic and the Mudejar. XIX century.

It is distinguished by: The striking colors that stand out from its facade and towers, the same happens in the sumptuous interior.

Monterrey Cathedral
Stage and style: Various styles that emerged between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries are harmoniously combined in it, reflected in its three-section façade, richly carved in the Baroque style, with paired neoclassical columns in the lower sections and ending with two plateresque medallions.

It is distinguished by: It has a single slim tower topped by a lantern.

Main riches:
• At the back of the main altar there are beautiful murals.

Cathedral of San Luis Potosí

Stage and style: Its construction dates from the mid-17th century. Its façade, like a screen, is out of date with the cloth of the two cubes or bases of its enormous towers decorated by a good number of Solomonic columns.

It is distinguished by: The sculptures of the twelve apostles on the façade carved in marble, copies on a smaller scale of those that Bernini carved for the Basilica of Saint John Lateran, in Rome.

Main riches:
• A large dome illuminates the main altar, where a beautiful cypress tree is located.
• Some paintings by José de Páez and Rodríguez Juárez from the 18th century.

Saltillo Cathedral
Stage and style: A rich vegetal ornamentation can be seen in the paired Solomonic columns on the first level, and in the stipite pilasters on the second level. The undulating lines (scrolls) of the moldings that finish off its façade confirm the influence of the Baroque style in these distant lands.

It is distinguished by: Its huge three-level tower on the right side of its façade, compared to the smaller one on the left side. The same happens with the unusual thickness and the profuse decoration of the columns that frame this portal, whose access is ornamented with a generous seashell.

Main riches:
• Its pulpit embroidered in gold leaf.
• Golden altarpiece in the Solomonic Baroque style that houses a painting of the Holy Family. At the foot of the altarpiece there is a finely embossed silver front.

Tlaxcala Cathedral

Stage and style: Originally it was the temple of the old Franciscan convent, built between 1537 and 1540; its facade shows a remarkable Renaissance sobriety.

It is distinguished by: It has a stupendous Mudejar style coffered ceiling and a small alfiz over the door.

Main riches:
• In the chapel of the Third Order you can admire the canvas corresponding to the baptism of the chiefs of Tlaxcala, among other works.
• On the left side of the presbytery, the San José chapel shows ornate vaults with plasterwork and well-made altarpieces.

Zacatecas Cathedral

Stage and style: It is without a doubt, the exuberant baroque masterpiece of New Spain, it was dedicated in 1752 and consecrated until 1841.

It is distinguished by: The ornamental richness that its main portal shows is impressive. Excellent carving of the pink quarry that together give it the appearance of a fine stone lace. In contrast, its interior is sober, with only the keys to its arches standing out due to the sculptural reliefs that allude to various themes. Also noteworthy are its handkerchief vaults.

Main riches:
• Its stately towers have a rich plant decoration.
