This well-known herb has all loved us at times, but how much do you know about it?

Scientific name: AMARGÓN, CHICORIA OLECHUGUILLA Taraxacum officinale Weber.
Family: Compositae.

The dandelion is one of the most useful plants in the Mexican territory. It occurs in the wild and its main properties are as a cleanser, aperitif, laxative, diuretic, antirheumatic and sudorific. The most used parts of the Dandelion are the leaves, the flower and the root. By cooking these, a liquid is obtained that serves to alleviate liver affections, taking it as water for use; Also the infusion of the same is a good remedy to treat problems of the gallbladder, which must be ingested for three days. On the other hand, the Dandelion or Lechuguilla is used to alleviate mouth wounds, eye irritation, lung conditions, cough, throat and muscle inflammation.

Grass that measures less than 30 cm in height, with leaves forming a circle at the base of the stem and from where its yellow flowers emerge. These when drying originate globose fruits. In Mexico it lives in warm, semi-warm, semi-dry and temperate climates, and grows on farmland associated with the deciduous and sub-deciduous tropical forest; xerophilous scrub, mountain mesophilic forests, oak and mixed pine.
