Born in Mexico City (1645), this Jesuit is considered one of the brightest minds of the colonial period. He dabbled in history, geography, science, letters and the university chair!

From an illustrious family, he entered the Jesus company at 17, leaving her two years later.

In 1672 he held the chairs of mathematics and astronomy at the university. Participates in a scientific controversy on the occasion of the appearance of a comet (1680).

Being chaplain of the Hospital del Amor de Dios since 1682, he managed to save the archives and the paintings of the town hall in 1692 during the fire caused by a popular riot. Join the Pensacola Bay Expedition as a Royal Geographer.

Already retired, he writes some historical works, unfortunately missing today. He is considered one of the most prominent characters in Baroque culture, as he successfully ventures into poetry, history, journalism and mathematics. When he died in 1700, he inherited his extensive library and scientific apparatus from the Jesuits.
