In the Zoque language, the name of these magnificent caves, nestled in the foothills of the northern mountains of Chiapas, means "deep water."

In the Zoque language, the name of these magnificent caves, nestled in the foothills of the northern mountains of Chiapas, means "deep water." Beautiful landscapes and dense vegetation serve as a framework for these unique underground formations that are found in one of the regions with the highest rainfall in the world.

The caves are 492 m long, with eight rooms full of ghostly white and reddish concretions. The rooms of El Cenote and de los Peces Ciegos stand out, the latter with a body of water in which it is said that these blind fish exist, that is, they do not require natural light because they were born precisely inside the caverns.

3 km northeast of Teapa by state highway s / n.
