Many are the interesting places that are between the archaeological zone of Uxmal and the white city of Mérida. Explore them!

Uxmal It was one of the Mayan cities of the Late Classic period of peak expression of the Puuc architectural style, characterized by the use of cut stones with which geometric designs were made on the facades of the buildings. It communicates by a sacbé of 18 kilometers with Kabah.

Its important constructions are: the Pyramid of the Magician with 35 meters high with an elliptical shape, rare within Mayan architecture, and the Quadrangle of the Nuns, located between four buildings with a central square, its facade shows images of snakes, jaguars and masks of the god Chaac.

16 kilometers north, it is located Muna, where the road from west to east that reaches Tikul passes, located in a mountain range of the same name, unique in the peninsula.

The importance of this region is due to its temples and convents built during the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. To the south of Tikul is Oxcutzcab here we locate the temple and ex-convent of San Francisco; in Maní the ex-convent of San Miguel Arcángel; in Tekax the convent of San Juan Bautista. To the northwest of Tikul is Mamad where is the former convent and parish of the Assumption, later in Tekit the parish of San Antonio de Padua.

Northwest of Tekit on Highway 18 comes to Mayapan one of the capitals of the Mayans. This area was destroyed and burned in 1450 AD, due to conflicts with other Mayan cities. 20 kilometers north of this one you will reach Acanceh where you can visit the temples of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of the Nativity. Travel 20 more kilometers and you will be in Mérida, the Yucatecan capital.

It is important to mention that the road from Maxcanú to Mérida passes through Uman where the ex-convent of San Francisco is located. From Umán to Mérida it travels 12 kilometers.
