Campeche, called Ah Kin Pech, by the natives was the first place on the mainland in Mesoamerica, where a mass was celebrated.

It became the vital center of the region, the reason for being the object of pirate attacks led by Francis Drake, John Hawkins, William Parker, Henry Morgan, for which they built fortifications that are now museums. Its Cathedral, the church of San Francisco, San Román, de Jesús, as well as the doors of Mar and Tierra refer to colonial architecture. The mentioned gates are entrances to the city and are located next to the boardwalk.

If you want you can visit theaters or museums, the recommendation is: the Francisco de Paula y Toro Theater, museums such as the Mayan Stelae, Crafts and Regional, as well as the Botanical Garden and the Campechano Institute.
