In the town of San Ignacio, in Baja California Sur, stands this farm established by the Society of Jesus in the 18th century. Discover it!

The place where the beautiful Mission of San Ignacio de Kadakaaman stands is a magnificent oasis surrounded by vegetation that, according to the story, was located by Father Píccolo around the year 1716.

Cochimí Indians lived there and the mission was established in 1728 by the Jesuit fathers Juan Bautista Luyando and Sebastián de Sistiagael. Construction was started by the Jesuits and completed by the Dominicans. Its façade is one of the most beautiful in the region and has bodies with slender stone pilasters that frame the entrance door, with a mixtilinear arch and sculptures of saints, probably from the Jesuit order. On both sides of the door there are two symbols alluding to Spain and the King, made of stone on small circular windows. Inside it preserves the main altarpiece, which is in the Baroque style in its anastile mode (which does not have columns), dedicated to Saint Ignatius of Loyola and adorned with beautiful oil paintings with religious themes; The upper painting that represents the appearance of the Virgen del Pilar stands out.

Visiting schedule: daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

How to get: It is located in the town of San Ignacio, 73 km northwest of Santa Rosalía, along highway No. 1.
