In the surroundings of Monterrey there are two other National Parks that stand out for the beauty of their surroundings: in the Municipality of Cerralvo, there is El Sabinal, which covers an area of 8 hectares.
The climate is warm due to its height (less than 500 meters above sea level); Its main attraction is the trees that give the Park its name: the sabines or ahuehuetes. This tree has been called the “tree of Mexico”, its trunk is the largest in the world and its life span exceeds one hundred years.
Another National Park near Cerro de la Silla is Cumbres de Monterrey, which covers an area of 246,500 hectares, encompassing several surrounding municipalities such as Los Sauces, San Nicolás de los Garza, Villa Guadalupe, Apodaca, Garza García, among others.
The importance of this site lies in its ravines and canyons, where the Cola de Caballo waterfall and the García and Chipín Grottoes stand out. Its environment includes plant species such as pine and oak. The weather is hot in summer, while winter brings snowfall. The Park is ideal for mountaineering, camping and caving.
