Formed by the lagoons of: Compila, Tonatihua, Seca, Prieta, Ocoyotongo, Quila and Hueyapan, this park is located in the Sierra of the same name, 50 km from Mexico City. Its great height determines that the climate is temperate during the day and cold at night.

Zempoala, "Place of many waters", is made up of seven lagoons, of which only two are permanent, the others are dry. The forest that surrounds them is home to pines, fir trees and oaks, which encourage you to enjoy nature and the tranquility that you aspire to when contemplating the landscapes in which the blue tones of its waters are combined with the diverse greens of the surrounding forests. .

The national park was established as such, on May 19, 1947. The tour of the free highway to Cuernavaca offers the walker not only beautiful landscapes, which include partial views of the Cuernavaca Valley, but also pleasant and suitable places to spend days field.

The park is ideal to rest, as long as it is not a weekend, but if you visit it on these days, we advise you to take advantage of your time practicing mountaineering on nearby peaks, camping or sailing and some water sports allowed in the lagoons. Fishing is prohibited.

There is a small museum in this park, which exhibits samples of the flora of the place, as well as diagrams, which illustrate the formation of the lagoons.

Huitzilac is the closest town to the park that offers visitors handicrafts from the region, such as rustic furniture made of various kinds of wood, as well as miniatures of them.

HOW TO GET

Take the free or federal highway 95 that leads to Cuernavaca. At km. 37 you will find the deviation to Huitzilac in the town of Tres Marías. 13 km. ahead is the park.
