Puebla China has been one of the most painted, stamped and photographed popular figures since colonial times.

His luxurious costume wears a cloth skirt or “zagalejo”, usually red, embroidered with sequins with geometric designs, and on the front the national eagle.

The blouse is finely embroidered at the neckline with beads and wears a “ball-shaped” shawl, red sneakers, long braids with colored ribbons and occasionally a charro hat.

The origin of china comes from the colonial era. She was actually Princess Minah, the daughter of a Mongol king, who was kidnapped and later sold in the Philippines, from where she left on a ship for New Spain.

On the way from the Pacific coast to the capital, passing through the city of Puebla, it was acquired by a Spanish family named Soza. During his stay in Puebla, his exotic costumes strongly attracted the attention of the women of the town, who copied them, adding indigenous taste. Years later the pulquerías, fondas or refreshments were attended by girls who wore that daring and striking costume. Today his fame has transcended borders and abroad, along with the manly charro, has become a symbol of Mexico.
