This hacienda, located in Campecehe, dates from the 16th century and has been transformed into a luxury resort, but preserving its magic and charm.

PLACE LOADED WITH HISTORY

The Hacienda de Uayamón dates from the 16th century. In its beginnings it was dedicated to the cattle ranch. Several times it was looted by privateers, including the famous Lauren Graff, ‘Lorencillo’, with his lieutenant Agramonte, who robbed the place in 1685.

For the nineteenth century it was one of the most prosperous estates in Campeche, which expanded its activities, and in addition to raising cattle, it grew corn, palo de tinte, and henequen. At the end of that period it became the property of Fernando Carvajal Estrada, who inherited it from Rafael Carvajal Iturbide, whose name appears on one of the buildings. But it was Fernando Carvajal, a great businessman of his time, who in addition to worrying about the well-being of workers: education and medical services; He introduced electricity and promoted the Campechano Railroad project, to take the large production of the hacienda to other lands; in this way Uayamón became an important commercial point. By 1911, it was occupied by rebels; the boilers and machines were destroyed, as well as the railway line and with it began its decline.

The main house, the chapel walls, the charity hospital, the school, the trade house, the workers' house, the powerhouse, the cemetery and the irrigation system are preserved from the old town.
