An interesting attraction of the city that, according to tradition, was built around 1538 by the friar Bernardo Quezada as a penance to opt for a monastic life.

These are two rooms dug into the living rock, which have furniture and a small altar made in the rock itself. On the façade of one of the large stones there is a sculpted figure that resembles a soldier. Another somewhat popular extraction legend, told by word of mouth, assures that this unique construction was made by a fugitive from justice who found a way to hide from the authorities there. The curious carved image that resembles a soldier was probably the product of the individual's imagination, although there were those who claimed that a soldier who had deserted the service lived there. The important thing about this is that from there the city of Zacualtipan was founded.
